The ACW or Anglican Christian Women:

The women of St. Andrew’s have been very active over the years with the A.C.W.

We meet the first Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. in the church hall. Some of our activities are yearly events. For example, every July 1, we have Lunch on the Lawn, a highly anticipated event, and twice a year, we host a bridge luncheon. On occasion, we have a guest speaker.

Other events that we participate in are catering for funerals and involvement in the World Day of Prayer. Our corresponding secretary sends out cards to members of our congregation who are celebrating or grieving and also to those that have moved away, to remind them of their time at St. Andrew’s.

We are very grateful to the women of our congregation for their generosity, like stocking the cupboard or helping to prepare sandwiches. They are always ready to step in and supply what is required. At the end of the year, surplus funds are given to a number of needy groups in our community.

ACW Bridge/Luncheon:

On May 4, 2023, The ACW hosted the first Bridge/Luncheon since CoVid began – and had a great group of card players that enjoyed a great lunch and wonderful dessert buffet before the Bridge games began.

After the games 2 ticket draws were done and won by Delain Atchison and Dianne Carr – Congratulations!!

Some great scores from the Bridge games as well – the first place winner was Lynda Walsh with 3300 points and second place to Chris Crank with a close 3000.  Fun was had by all and we all look forward to another Bridge Luncheon hosted by ACW this October.

ACW Diocesan Annual General Meeting:

Helen McLachlan and Faye Campbell went to Kingston to Christ Church Cataraqui to represent St Andrew’s ACW at the 53rd  annual meeting of the Diocese of Ontario on May 3, 2023.

After registration, coffee and lovely treats were served and an opportunity for all  ACW ladies from our Diocese to get together – and Bishop MIchael Oulton and the Clery were also all there to meet and greet everyone.

A Eucharist Service was held in the Church with Bishop Michael and at the end of the Service, a lovely glass sun catcher was presented to the Bishop from the ACW as a Thank You as he will be moving from the Diocese.

Maggie McLaren, the Executive Director of DAWN HOUSE, a Place to Call Home, a wonderful home for women in need, spoke to the ACW and recounted a number of great success stories.   A collection of $742 was presented to Maggie for Dawn House.

A delicious lunch was catered and served by the Diocesan Clergy – as you can see from the pictures our Canon Nancy Beale was there working hard!  Dessert was from the beautiful, delicious, cakes that were a Thank You to Bishop Michael – and he did the honour of cutting the cake.

The annual meeting was held afterwards, and awards presented.  There were approximately 100 ACW there.  Because of CoVid this was the first meeting in 3 years and very well received.
