ACW at St. Andrew’s
The Anglican Church Women is a group of dedicated active women. All women of the parish are automatically members of the ACW although a small group carries on the work while relying on all members of the church family to assist with their many activities.
The ACW was formed in 1969 with the amalgamation of the Women’s Auxiliary (founded in 1893) and the Guild (founded in 1887). The mission work of the W. A. and the Guild’s work of raising funds to assist in the work of the church became the focus of the ACW.
Currently, St Andrew’s supports provincial and national mission programs through the diocesan ACW. Funds are raised by events such as bridge luncheons, bake sales, Canada Day lunch-on-the-lawn, roast beef suppers and catering at funeral receptions as requested.
Funds raised at these activities are donated regularly to the church.
Please join our monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. For more information, please contact our president, Mary Ellen Closson, at (613) 968 3320 or the secretary-treasurer, Mary Dunlop at (613) 399 3411.
The ACW supports Alternatives for Women in PEC by supplying a basket of cleaning supplies. These baskets help when a woman is ready to set up her independent home after spending time in the care and protection of Alternatives for Women.
