Dear Friends,
I am announcing the retirement of The Ven. David Selzer as diocesan executive officer (DEO) effective May 30, 2025. David has served as DEO since September 2022 following the conclusion of his appointment as interim priest-in-charge of St. George's Cathedral. Previous to this role David had served as executive archdeacon in the Diocese of Ottawa.
Our diocese has been blessed and thankful for the faithful service that David has provided in his ministry.
I am pleased to announce that I am appointing Archdeacon Jane Humphreys of the Anglican Diocese of Huron as diocesan executive officer, effective May 1, 2025.
Jane was ordained a deacon on June 2, 1991 and priest on May 3, 1992 for the Diocese of Niagara. After serving as assistant curate at St. Luke’s, Burlington she was appointed registrar at Wycliffe College from June 1994 until November 1996 from where she moved to the Diocese of Huron. She served as associate priest in the Parish of Long Point Bay (Port Rowan, St. William's, Port Ryerse, Woodhouse, Vittoria and Turkey Point); vicar of St. Paul's Cathedral, London; rector of St. Luke's (Broughdale), London. Currently, Jane is the rector of St. Mary's (Walkerville), Windsor, serving since September 2007. While working as a busy parish priest, Jane has been archdeacon of Middlesex (2002-2007) archdeacon of Essex (2008-2010, 2013-2022) and archdeacon of Southern Huron (an expansion of the former territory to include Kent County from 2022-2025) and therefore has served as an archdeacon for a total of 19 years in the Diocese of Huron’s two most populous Archdeaconries.
For the Diocese of Huron, she has served as a member and chair of the Administration and Finance Committee and chair of the Grants and Loans Sub-committee. Jane has been a member of General Synod for the 2001-2004 triennium, the 2010-1013 triennium, the 2016- 2019 triennium, and is currently a member for the 2023-2025 biennium. For the National Church, she has served as a member of the Financial Management Committee, the Investment Committee and as a member and chair of the Resources for Mission Coordinating Committee. She is married to the Rev’d Canon Dr. Gordon Maitland and they are parents to two adult children.
Jane and Gordon are delighted to be moving to Kingston. Jane has always loved to serve the church and God’s people and she looks forward to the challenges and joys of this new position in the Diocese of Ontario.
Yours faithfully,
Bishop William G. Cliff
XIII Bishop of Ontario
